Job Summary
Nema Enclosures is seeking a proven, experienced Powder Coater to join our Night Shift operations. This is NOT an entry-level or trainee position. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience operating industrial powder coating equipment, prepping sheet metal surfaces, and ensuring high-quality finishes on custom metal enclosures. Applicants without direct powder coating experience will not be considered.
Duties
- Prepare metal surfaces for powder application by cleaning, sanding, and masking to spec.
- Operate electrostatic powder spray equipment to apply uniform coatings to metal parts.
- Perform quality checks, including mil thickness testing, cross-hatch testing, and visual inspection.
- Maintain and perform basic routine maintenance/troubleshooting on spray guns and powder booth systems.
- Maintain line pace, adhere to safety standards, and support 5S continuous improvement efforts on the shift.
- Safely operate material handling equipment (forklifts, overhead cranes) as required.
Experience
- Minimum 2–3+ years of direct industrial powder coating experience (REQUIRED).
- Specific Spray Experience: Hands-on experience setting up, operating, and troubleshooting electrostatic powder guns and cure ovens.
- Surface Prep & Masking: Demonstrated knowledge of wash lines, chemical pretreatment, manual sanding, and masking complex sheet metal components.
- Please note: General wet painting, auto body painting, or construction painting experience alone DOES NOT meet the requirements for this role.
