About the Role

Paid Media Lead – responsible for owning and driving performance across paid acquisition channels. Focus on accountability, strategy, stakeholder alignment and scalable growth.

Responsibilities

  • Own paid media performance for assigned brands or markets, defining strategy across platforms (Google Ads, Meta, You Tube, Reddit, etc.) with a focus on revenue, lead quality and efficiency.
  • Own core KPIs (CAC, ROAS, CPL, pipeline contribution), review performance, identify risks and opportunities, and take decisive action.
  • Oversee campaign execution and optimisation across PPC, paid social and display, guiding strategy, prioritisation and scaling decisions.
  • Manage and allocate significant paid media budgets, forecast performance, plan spend and adjust investment dynamically.
  • Act as the paid media partner to internal stakeholders across marketing, sales, product and leadership, communicating performance and ensuring alignment with growth plans.
  • Lead reporting and insights, translating data into actionable recommendations, and presenting results to senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with CRO, product and creative teams to optimise the funnel, improve landing pages, messaging and user experience.
  • Build relationships with key platform partners (Google, Meta, etc.) and leverage insights and support to drive performance improvements.
  • Provide direction to paid media specialists or agency partners, setting priorities and ensuring high execution standards.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, platform updates and new opportunities, testing and scaling new approaches.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years managing large‑scale paid media campaigns, hands‑on experience with PPC, display and social ads on Google, Meta, etc.
  • Proven experience in B2C paid & organic marketing, preferably in tech, education or SaaS.
  • Advanced analytical skills – Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, consent management, competitive keyword analysis or data‑driven optimisations.
  • Experience budgeting and forecasting, managing multi‑million‑rand annual budgets.
  • Creative and strategic mindset – A/B testing, creative optimisation, strategy for customer journey stages.
  • Excellent communication – Articulate complex ideas and results to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with CRM, marketing automation, email marketing, landing page optimisation or CRO is a plus.
  • Action‑oriented, self‑starter, able to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.

Preferred

  • Experience scaling ATL advertising budgets.
  • Experience with Big Query/SQL and GA4.
  • Experience marketing a product to a category leader in the education market.
  • Knowledge of Search Engine Optimization.
  • Knowledge of design tools such as Figma.
