Offshore Junior Draughtsman Jobs in Montague Gardens, Western Cape at Trans Hex Group
Trans Hex Marine consists of a group of companies actively involved in Offshore Mining projects and Exploration.
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, the Design Engineer will be required to assist the drawing office by creating 3D assemblies along with their respective components and fully detailed manufacturing drawings. Ideally you would also be proficient with different measuring tools (Vernier, Micrometer, etc.) to reverse engineer sample parts.
Key Outputs
Provide drawing and design support to Engineers / Snr Draughtmen
3D modelling and creation of working drawings according to company’s standard.
Analyze prototype data and retest if needed
Research new product ideas and methods
Improve existing products and processes
Ensure compliance with the industry’s safety standards
Maintain accurate records
Write detailed reports
Find creative design solutions to problems
Present prototypes and designs to customers and project managers
Knowledge of fits and tolerances
Using different measuring tools (Vernier, Micrometer, etc.) to reverse engineer sample parts
Preparation of manufacturing project files.
Knowledge of hydraulic schematic drawings.
Sourcing of components from suppliers.
Technical assistance to the workshop staff during the production process
Qualification and experience
Qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
Previous experience as Design Engineer
Marine and vessels experience advantageous
Working knowledge of CAD Software, SolidWorks & Autodesk Inventor
Proficient in Microsoft Office packages, specifically MS Excel (for formulas and layouts) & MS Word.
Good understanding of mechanical systems and their function
Knowledge of fits and tolerances
