Job Objective
Proactively manage WIOCC’s Global Network (subsea & terrestrial) to meet quality and performance levels, resolve incidents and problems, and handle network administration for the SLTE network.
Key
Duties & Responsibilities
Proactive management of the subsea and terrestrial optical network, resolve incidents and problems, improve performance objectives, manage DCN security and environmental systems.
Operate & utilise Wet Plant supervisory systems for fault isolation and diagnostics.
Coordinate turn-up, integration & upgrades of SLTE, ensuring proper functioning of Wet Plant supervisory systems.
Build partnerships with CLS / DC Engineers, Cable System Owners, Suppliers, and Vendors.
Perform routine maintenance on Rectifiers, Batteries, GENSET, and optical test equipment calibration.
Manage SLTE Network Administration and DCN monitoring & maintenance.
Plan and manage Planned Engineering Works via Change Management.
Develop systems & tools for real-time optical network performance monitoring.
Manage network releases and accept new or changed networks from Engineering.
Mentor & train Operations team on technical skills.
Lead compliance with company policies and procedures.
Collaborate on projects and contribute to documentation & automation to meet SLAs.
Provide Tier-III support to NOC, TAC & OATS clients, and escalate vendor issues.
Use B/OSS tools for accurate and timely record-keeping.
Support NOC Disaster Recovery capabilities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronics/Communications Engineering or extensive relevant experience.
Experience & Skills
Minimum 3 years in telecom, managing SLTE or terrestrial DWDM networks.
Experience with Network Management Systems (e.g., Huawei U, Infinera TNMS, Ciena MCP).
Experience with optical transmission equipment (Infinera, Ciena, Huawei, etc.).
Knowledge of optical test equipment and KPIs.
Understanding of DCN operations, security, and network protocols.
Experience with subsea repair operations and proactive cable route monitoring.
Ability to collaborate across vendors and stakeholders, with strong technical reporting skills.
Knowledge of trouble ticket systems;
Net Suite preferred.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
