Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (No weekends!)
Reports To: Shop Manager / Service Manager
About the Role
We’re an independent, family-owned shop in Reno, NV looking for a skilled Muffler/Exhaust Technician to join our team. In this role, you’ll diagnose, repair, fabricate, and install exhaust system components, ensuring vehicles meet safety and emissions standards while delivering excellent service to our customers. Responsibilities
- Inspect and diagnose exhaust system issues, including mufflers, catalytic converters, resonators, pipes, tailpipes, and exhaust manifolds
- Operate a muffler/exhaust pipe bender to design and fabricate custom exhaust systems to fit both OEM specifications and specialty/custom vehicle builds
- Diagnose and repair exhaust-related issues, including catalytic converter replacement and all aspects of exhaust system repair
- Remove and replace cracked, warped, or damaged exhaust manifolds
- Remove and replace other damaged or worn exhaust components
- Weld and fabricate custom exhaust pipes and components as needed (MIG/TIG)
- Perform emissions-related repairs in compliance with local and state regulations
- Use lifts, pipe benders, cutting tools, and welding equipment safely and effectively
- Test drive vehicles to confirm repairs resolve noise, leaks, or performance issues
- Communicate clearly with service advisors and customers about needed repairs and costs
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Keep accurate records of work performed, parts used, and time spent
- Stay current on new exhaust technologies, vehicle makes/models, and industry best practices
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience as an exhaust or muffler technician preferred (3 years)
- Hands-on experience operating a muffler/exhaust pipe bender for custom fabrication work
- Proven experience with catalytic converter replacement and full-scope exhaust system repairs
- Working knowledge of exhaust systems across a range of OEM and specialty vehicle makes/models
- Proficiency with welding equipment (MIG) and hand/power tools
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- ASE certification (exhaust systems) a plus
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding conditions
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Willing and able to relocate to the Reno, NV area (relocation assistance available for the right candidate)

Pay: $28.00 – $40.00 per hour
