M&A and Finance Projects Manager

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive M&A and Finance Projects Manager to join our team and play a key role in identifying and evaluating new acquisition opportunities. You will lead finance projects, research potential acquisitions, manage relationships with business brokers, assist with deal negotiations, and ensure a seamless post-acquisition integration. This role also involves developing and optimising finance projects that drive business objectives and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Acquisition Research & Sourcing:
Proactively identify and research acquisition opportunities, staying informed on industry trends and market developments.
Build and maintain strong relationships with business brokers to source acquisition targets.
Financial Modelling & Evaluation:
Create and maintain financial evaluation models in Excel to assess acquisition opportunities and their potential financial impact.
Conduct financial assessments, ensuring alignment with overall strategic goals.
Deal Negotiation & Documentation:
Assist in deal structuring and negotiations, drafting terms and ensuring smooth communication between internal teams and external parties.
Support in preparing and reviewing deal documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Post-Acquisition Integration & Progress Tracking:
Collaborate with integration teams to ensure a seamless transition post-acquisition.
Track acquisition progress, monitor performance against key milestones, and report on success metrics.
Finance Project Management & Marketing Strategy Development:
Lead and support finance projects, including developing marketing strategies, optimising internal processes, and enhancing financial project workflows.
Work closely with other departments to align finance initiatives with company objectives.
Skills & Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in M&A, corporate finance, or a related field, with exposure to deal structuring and integration.
Strong proficiency in Excel, particularly in financial modelling and data analysis.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders (including business brokers).
Analytical mindset with a keen eye for detail and the ability to identify opportunities and risks.
Basic understanding of financial statements, deal structures, and the acquisition process.
Desirable:
Prior experience in M&A, corporate finance, or a similar environment.
Familiarity with Profit & Loss statements and balance sheets.
FMVA, CIM, or similar business valuation/marketing qualifications.
Previous experience in leading teams or managing projects in a finance-driven environment.

Salary & Benefits:
Salary: R40 000 – R50 000 per month (depending on experience and qualifications).
Contract: Permanent
Working Hours: Monday – Friday 9:00am -6:00pm SAST
Paid Leave (plus SA Public Holidays)
Additional Requirements:
Reliable internet access and the ability to work effectively in a remote setup – based in Cape Town.
Occasional travel may be required for business meetings and acquisition-related activities.
