Purpose of Position: Responsible for overseeing and guiding the training of employees and interns within the Histopathology laboratory. This role ensures that all team members achieve high levels of theoretical and practical competence. Additionally, it fosters a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Requirements: Bachelor of Health Sciences Honours (Required), HPCSA registration as Medical Scientist (Anatomical Pathology) (Required)
Required Experience: 3 years post-qualification experience as a Medical Scientist within a Histopathology laboratory environment. Must have clear and effective communication skills, problem-solving skills, in-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations and HPCSA standards, research methodologies, teaching techniques, proficiency in medical software, leadership and mentoring skills, and good time management skills.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct staff performance assessments, design and develop training materials and assessment tools, maintain good client relations, oversee training and portfolio sign-off for intern medical scientists, perform Histopathology techniques, and ensure compliance with accreditation standards for the intern training laboratory.
