MECHANICAL DESIGNER – Mining & Minerals Industry
Job Description
Work safely, adhering to the company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, manuals, and procedures. Prioritize the health, safety, and welfare of colleagues, visitors, clients, the community, and the environment.
Produce mechanical drawings following accepted engineering practices and company drafting procedures.
Utilize relevant CAD software, including 3D design tools, effectively.
Responsibilities
Design and produce detailed mechanical drawings for mining processing plant construction projects, ensuring compliance with standards and project requirements.
Complete drawings on schedule and within project budgets.
Follow company standards and procedures consistently.
Conduct vendor inspections, prepare material take-offs, and develop standard and detailed drawings.
Ensure drawings are clear, accurate, and produced on time and within budget.
Coordinate with consultants, other disciplines, and project managers to meet client objectives efficiently.
Maintain safety and environmental compliance, proactively addressing related issues.
Qualifications
Tertiary technical qualification (e.g., National Diploma or equivalent).
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
3 to 5 years of mechanical design experience in mining and minerals processing, both in design offices and fieldwork.
Knowledge of mineral processing plant equipment, including crushers, vibrating screens, feeders, and stockpiles.
Understanding of belt conveyor operation and components.
Proficiency with design software, including 3D CAD packages, and familiarity with company drafting procedures, word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.
Knowledge of fabrication, construction, and operational aspects of mechanical systems.
Strong checking skills, ability to work independently, focus on completing tasks, and demonstrate initiative.
Methodical, accurate, and quick in work execution.
