Role Overview
We are looking for a hardworking, detail-oriented Meat Wrapper to join our meat department team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, weighing, wrapping, and labeling fresh meat and poultry products for our display cases. You will work closely with our butchers and meat cutters to ensure our customers always have access to fresh, accurately priced, and beautifully presented cuts of meat.
Key Responsibilities
- Wrapping & Labeling: Securely package fresh meat products using commercial wrapping equipment. Weigh items accurately and apply the correct price and product labels.
- Display Management: Stock, arrange, and organize the meat display cases. Ensure products are rotated correctly (first in, first out) to maintain peak freshness and minimize shrink.
- Quality Control: Inspect all products for quality, color, and freshness before packaging. Remove and report any items that do not meet our store standards.
- Sanitation & Safety: Maintain a clean, sanitized work environment at all times. Regularly clean and sanitize scales, wrapping stations, prep tables, and display cases in strict compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Customer Service: Greet customers on the sales floor, answer questions about different cuts of meat, and provide friendly, helpful service.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a grocery store meat department, deli, or food handling is a plus, but we are fully willing to train the right candidate.
- Ability to learn and safely operate meat wrapping machines, digital scales, and labeling equipment.
- Strong attention to detail to guarantee accurate pricing and attractive packaging.
- Excellent customer service skills and a team-player mentality.
- Basic understanding of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation guidelines.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (typically a full shift).
- Frequent lifting, carrying, bending, and reaching (ability to lift up to 40-90 lbs).
- Must be comfortable working in a cold temperature environment, including meat prep rooms and walk-in coolers.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 – $16.00 per year
