ECC Corrosion, Inc., a manufacturer of composite tanks, piping and other products located in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, seeks reliable individuals to work in our warehouse.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Material Handler is responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely movement of materials throughout the Storeroom, production floor, and shipping/receiving areas. This role supports all production operations by ensuring that the right materials are in the right place at the right time — before they are needed. The Material Handler is expected to work proactively, anticipate production needs, maintain a clean and organized work environment, and take ownership of their assigned tasks without requiring constant direction.

This is a hands-on, active role in a manufacturing environment. Success requires reliability, good attendance, attention to detail, a willingness to try and cross-train across all storeroom functions.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Production Support

  • Check in with production leads and foremen at the start of each shift to identify immediate needs
  • Anticipate production material requirements — stage resins, consumables, and supplies before they are requested
  • Monitor and respond to demand; verify with production before delivering
  • Prepare, stage, and deliver production gators per load lists — picked, counted, labeled, and staged correctly
  • Mix resins and perform gel tests as required; notify supervisor of any issues
  • Prepare putty as needed; check levels daily and make to established minimum
  • Kick off resin buckets and drums; monitor levels throughout shift

Receiving & Inventory

  • Receive incoming shipments; verify quantities against purchase orders and note any discrepancies
  • Put away all received materials to correct labeled locations
  • Perform cycle counts as assigned; record results accurately on count forms
  • Maintain accurate inventory by labeling all product and storage locations

Shipping & Field Job Support

  • Review ship schedule weekly — verify all shipping materials are made, staged, labeled, and ready by job
  • Fabricate shipping materials as needed: flange protectors, cradles, crates, boxes, saddle pallets, tank pads
  • Stage all shipping materials by job number — segregated, labeled, and confirmed complete before ship date
  • Pick field job loads per load list; count, label, and stage for departure, and inspect and put away upon return
  • Load and unload field trailers accurately; two-person verification required before truck departs
  • Coordinate with supervisor on upcoming shipment requirements; notify Purchasing of material shortages with sufficient lead time

Facility, 5S & Safety

  • Maintain chemical cabinets on the production floor, check and restock at the start, middle and end of every shift
  • Restock PPE stations and point-of-use (POU) consumable windows throughout the shift
  • Collect and process empty drums, buckets, and bins from the production floor
  • Keep all aisles, the receiving dock, and work areas clean, clear, and organized at all times
  • Participate in warehouse organization projects
  • Apply 5S principles daily: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
  • Follow all safety protocols; report hazards, near-misses, and incidents to supervisor immediately

Shift Handoff

  • In the last two hours of each shift, stage materials and consumables for the incoming shift’s first two hours
  • Complete a written shift handoff note before leaving, document what was completed, what is pending, and what the next shift needs to know
  • Read the incoming shift’s handoff note at the start of each shift before beginning work

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to work assigned shift reliably and consistently
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 30+ lbs regularly throughout the shift
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions, load lists, cut sheets, drawings, and pick lists
  • Willingness to cross-train on all storeroom functions — full role fluency is expected over time
  • Forklift certification required within probationary period (training provided)

Preferred

  • Prior experience in a warehouse, storeroom, tool crib, manufacturing, or distribution environment
  • Experience operating a forklift or other powered industrial equipment
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems (ERP/SAGE experience a plus)
  • Experience with shipping and receiving processes

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Manufacturing and warehouse environment — exposure to chemicals, resins, and industrial materials
  • Required to wear appropriate PPE at all times including safety glasses, gloves, and other protective equipment as directed
  • Exposure to varying temperatures — indoor and outdoor work required seasonally
  • Moderate noise levels in production areas

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Performance in this role will be measured on the following criteria:

  • Attendance and punctuality — consistent, reliable presence is non-negotiable
  • Task completion — assigned tasks completed accurately and on time per the daily task board
  • Quality of work — materials correctly staged, labeled, counted, and documented
  • Proactive behavior — anticipating needs without waiting to be directed
  • Safety compliance — zero tolerance for unsafe behavior or PPE violations
  • Cross-training progress — demonstrated advancement toward full role fluency
  • Housekeeping — assigned areas maintained to 5S standards at all times

Attendance Policy Notice: Employees may not accumulate more than 6 attendance points within a rolling six-month period. Exceeding this threshold is grounds for termination. Attendance records are maintained and reviewed regularly. A no-call/no-show is treated as a separate, more serious attendance event.
