Material Handler
JD Steel Co., Inc. is an Employee-Owned Company specializing in all aspects of steel fabrication. We are seeking a highly motivated and dependable individual to join our fabrication team as a Material Handler.
The Material Handler is responsible for receiving, organizing, moving, staging, and preparing structural steel and other materials for fabrication and logistics.
The ideal candidate is safety-minded, physically capable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
Responsibilities
- Receive and inspect incoming structural materials
- Load, unload, move, and organize structural steel and other construction materials
- Stage materials for fabrication, shipping, and installation
- Read and interpret material tags, drawings, and work orders
- Identify and verify materials and quantities
- Maintain an organized and safe material yard and work area
- Assist with inventory and tracking of materials
- Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment as authorized
- Safely use hand tools and basic equipment
- Assist welders, fabricators, and other shop personnel as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction, structural steel, fabrication, warehousing, or material handling preferred
- Ability to safely lift and move heavy materials
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Forklift experience preferred
Pay: $20.00 – $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
