Managing Director – Cross Border (Logistics & Supply Chain)
Recruitment Matters is partnering with a well-established South African logistics and supply chain group on a confidential search for a Managing Director to lead their Cross Border division.
This is a divisional MD role with full P&L accountability for freight moving into and out of South Africa across regional corridors into neighbouring Southern African markets — road, rail and multimodal.
What you’ll own:
P&L for the Cross Border division — volumes, revenue, margin, fleet/asset utilisation
Customs compliance, cross-border documentation and SADC regulatory adherence
Freight forwarding & clearing, with a focus on digitised, efficient border-crossing processes
Key account management and new business development across FMCG, mining, agriculture and industrial sectors
Building and leading the divisional leadership team
What we’re looking for:
✅ 15+ years in road/rail freight logistics, with real cross-border/regional exposure
✅ 5+ years at MD, GM or Joint MD level with full P&L accountability
✅ Deep, hands-on knowledge of customs procedures and SADC trade frameworks
✅ A track record of managing multi-country operations
✅ Comfortable with frequent regional travel
