Role Purpose/Business Unit:

Manage all aspects of the regional Transmission network according to specific standards

Your responsibilities will include:

Fault Management – be able to localise and repair faults in a systematic manner ensuring minimum downtime.

Performance management – ensure that the network performs within the defined KPI’s.

Spares Management – Ensure compliance to spares management process for the dimensioning, issuing, returns and repairs.

Reports – provide detailed reports on availability, root cause analysis, spares management and performance management.

Special investigations – engage with supplier and internal stakeholders to swiftly resolve cross functional network issues

To design and implement a regional transmission access network strategy

To implement new and innovative transmission solutions – based on cost,flexibility, speed of implementation and

reliability

To support management computers of transmission equipment.

To conduct the following high-level tasks for the transmission and data infrastructure – Microwave, Optic, Tellabs 8100; 6300;8600 and ECI DTX600H product portfolios – these functions refer primarily to the Vodacom intra-regional and regional access transmission network

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

Degree/Diploma/T3/S4/N6 National Diploma Electrical Engineering (Light Current); (Essential)

5 – 8 Years relevant experience

Qualification in Projects and Programme Management (Desirable)

A Formal course in Management (e.g. MDP/MDC) (Desirable)

Transmission Technical Courses – Any Transmission principles, SDH, GPS Network Synchronization, Optic Fiber Systems (Essentia)

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

5 years relevant telecommunications experience

2 years working experience in transmission networks – transmission equipment installations, transmission infrastructure planning, transmission services planning, transmission services configuration, transmission network maintenance.

At least 2 years Supervisory experience (Essential)

Transmission/telecommunications environment

Financial principles

Financial systems

Administrative processes

Computer applications
