Requirements

  • NQF 7 (Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma) in Engineering.
  • At least 7 years’ experience as an Engineer, 3 years experience as an appointed 2.13.1 Engineer
  • Government Certificate of Competency.
  • Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
  • Clear security screening record.
  • Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
  • At Knowledge of Company, Commercial law, Minerals Act, BCEA and appropriate legislation.

Advantageous Qualifications

  • ECSA registration (Advantageous).

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Strategy Development
  • Provide visible felt leadership in safety, sustainable development and Sibanye Stillwater values.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic plans.
  • Lead and manage resources to deliver production targets and projects as required.
  • Maintenance Strategy
  • Develop, implement and monitor engineering maintenance, risk and operational strategies and plans.
  • Provide and oversee engineering services, infrastructure (roads, power, water) and equipment availability are adequate and maintained to meet operational goals.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Manage, implement and contribute to continuous improvement and asset optimisation initiatives and projects for engineering processes. Stakeholder Relations
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally.
  • Ensure open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Building a values-based organisational culture
  • Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment specific organisational development plan. This support will manifest in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment. ESG Compliance
  • Align to international responsible mining principles.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, environmental, occupational health and safety and risk management standards and best practices.
  • SA Gold Operations: Align to World Gold Council (WGC) Responsible Gold Mining Principles (RGMPs).
  • SA PGM Operations: Enhance Together for Sustainability (eTfS) initiative. SHE Compliance
  • Maintain and comply with SHE standards within the work environment.

  • Approve department’s documents.

  • People Management Recruitment:
  • Design the specific Operations’ discipline structure to support the achievement of the organisational mandate.
  • Review and approve labour plans around operational targets. Performance Management:
  • Provide leadership and inspire team members towards high performance.
  • Manage performance and development of reporting staff.
  • Set the specific Operations’ discipline performance targets and criteria that align with organisational goals for the team. Employee Relations:
  • Drive the Organisational Culture and Climate within the Business Unit to ensure achievement of organisational objectives and employee safety. Training and Development:
  • Drive a culture of Learning and Continuous Improvement within the specific Operation to ensure achievement of organisational objectives and safety.
  • Mentor individuals to enhance the individual`s knowledge, skills, values and attitude.
  • Create opportunities for development through participation and involvement in new business or technology enhancement projects for team members.
  • Provide coaching to team members on an ongoing basis. Transformation & Sustainability:
  • Drive a culture of Transformation within the specific Operation to ensure organisational sustainability.

Additional Requirements

  • Practical / technical skills in mining environment, project planning, cost of ownership and financial models.
