About the Company
A well-established manufacturing company based in Johannesburg (Southdale) is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join its Finance & Procurement team. This role is responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, driving cost control initiatives, supporting strategic decision-making, and delivering meaningful financial insights to management.

The successful candidate will have strong manufacturing and cost accounting experience, excellent analytical abilities, and a proven track record of maintaining financial integrity while supporting operational efficiency and business growth.
Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Compliance
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare and process month-end journals, accruals, prepayments, and intercompany transactions.
- Manage the fixed asset register and monthly depreciation calculations.
- Ensure compliance with tax, financial, and legal requirements.
- Support internal and external audits and maintain audit-ready documentation.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable oversight.
- Implement and maintain strong financial controls and company policies.
Cost Accounting & Inventory Management
- Maintain and update standard costing for labour, materials, and overheads.
- Perform detailed variance analysis and investigate cost discrepancies.
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
- Reconcile inventory and cost-related accounts monthly.
- Monitor production waste, scrap, and obsolescence reporting.
- Prepare inventory gains/losses reports and cost analysis.
- Manage pricing calculations, administration, and system integration.
Reporting & Business Support
- Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting packs.
- Assist with departmental profit and loss reporting.
- Conduct gross margin and profitability analysis.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Track operational and financial KPIs.
- Assist with cost modelling for new products and capital expenditure projects.
- Identify and recommend cost-saving and efficiency-improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting or Finance (Honours advantageous).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with strong costing exposure.
Required Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with Pastel will be advantageous.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.

Pay range and compensation package
Market-related, dependent on qualifications and experience.
