Machinist Level 3- The operator should have experience running Acme and
Davenport machines.
Position Summary:
Level Three: Building upon level two, with little or no assistance level three machinists
operate 6 spindle manual screw machines equipped with automatic indexing and
feeding mechanisms (bar or chucker) to machine metal stock) at the highest level of
complexity. Level three machinists apply advanced blue print and GD&T reading to
complex production inspection processes. Level three machinists competencies include
the ability to use more advanced quality inspection tools and techniques such as height
and air gauges and bench inspection. Typically 4-6 years of experience.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
ï‚· Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment
interaction.
ï‚· Adheres to quality processes including in-process inspection to ensure
compliance with quality specifications.
ï‚· Interpret work orders
ï‚· Lift up to 35lbs
ï‚· Work in a team environment, i.e. follow instructions and assist others as needed.
ï‚· Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
ï‚· Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications such as
dimensions, tolerances, number of parts to be machined, and tooling
instructions such as cutting speeds, feed rates, depth of cuts, and cutting
tools to be used.
ï‚· Sets up machines for self and/or others to run jobs involving highest
degrees of complexity and any and all types of material.
ï‚· Positions and secures specified collets, bushings, and stock pushers onto
stock feeding mechanism and loads bar stock into feeding mechanism.
ï‚· Installs and adjusts specified cams, gears, and stops to control stock and
tool movements at each station.
ï‚· Positions and secures tools in toolholders.
ï‚· Sets cutting speeds and feed rates.
ï‚· Moves controls to cycle machine through settings, stopping machine and
adjusting tool positions and machine controls to allow for operating
factors such as timing, clearance between moving parts, and chip
removal.
ï‚· Starts machine, observes operation, and inspects first run and sample
workpiece to ensure machining conforms to specifications.
ï‚· Replaces worn tools.
ï‚· Operates bench grinder to sharpen tools.
Required Skills:
ï‚· The ability to read and write English.
ï‚· Intermediate print reading & inspection processes
ï‚· Basic knowledge of wire material & coatings
ï‚· Basic trouble shooting
Experience & Education
ï‚· Two-year certificate from college or technical school; and 4-6 or more
years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of
education and experience.
ï‚· GED or High school diploma preferred but not required.
Hours – 5 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Pay: $26.01 – $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
