Are you someone who can:
Ensure adherence to underwriting rules and assist with renewal actions, reinsurance requirements, and VIP policies.
Provide authoritative underwriting recommendations and oversee underwriting projects.
Manage risk management processes and policies, evaluate insurance risks, identify claims patterns, and adjust underwriting practices to mitigate risk.
Act as a business partner, manage external relationships, operate within SLAs, and influence project teams.
Develop and implement departmental strategies.
Create and monitor functional policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with external and internal standards, manage audits, and align objectives with TCF principles.
Communicate strategy, motivate the underwriting team, enable business processes, and manage team development.
Identify and implement business practice improvements.
Conduct research and analysis to inform decisions and drive competitive standards.
Set performance objectives, manage staff resources, and ensure alignment with business goals.
Manage department budget and financial requirements.
Maintain expertise, provide training, and implement development plans.
You will be an ideal candidate if you have:
A Grade 12 Business Management/BCom or equivalent degree (Essential)
FAIS & RE5, Insurance Institute of South Africa or insurance accreditation, Key Individual Accreditation (Advantageous)
8-10 years in short-term insurance
Senior technical underwriting experience (Essential)
