Role Description This is a full-time Lecturer role based in Pretoria. The Lecturer will deliver high-quality tax-focused instruction at tertiary and CPD levels, using The Tax Faculty’s methodology to develop students’ critical and higher-order thinking skills. Daily responsibilities include preparing and presenting lectures, tutorials, and workshops; creating and updating course materials; setting and marking assessments; and providing ongoing academic support and feedback to learners. The Lecturer will engage in curriculum development and review, ensure content aligns with current tax legislation and practice, and contribute to academic quality assurance and program enhancement. The role also involves collaborating with colleagues on teaching initiatives, participating in professional development activities, and engaging with the broader tax community where relevant.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in taxation and related fields, supported by a relevant degree (e.g., Taxation, Accounting, Law, or Commerce) and, ideally, professional certification or registration.
- Demonstrated teaching, training, or facilitation skills, including experience designing and delivering structured learning programs at tertiary or professional level.
- Ability to foster critical and higher-order thinking, with experience guiding learners in analysis, evaluation, problem-solving, and application of complex tax concepts.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with strong academic writing abilities and the capacity to explain technical tax issues clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in planning and organizing academic activities, including curriculum development, assessment design, marking, and timely learner feedback.
- Comfort with educational technology and digital learning tools (e.g., LMS platforms, online assessment systems, virtual classrooms) to support modern teaching practices.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development, staying current with tax legislation, practice developments, and pedagogical best practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an academic team, demonstrate professionalism and integrity, and support an inclusive and respectful learning environment.
