Lead Trails Guide
Hluhluwe, Kwa-Zulu Natal
Introduction
Hospitality and Outdoor is recruiting an experienced Lead Trails Guide to take ownership of guided walking safaris within a remote Big 5 environment. This role offers a rare opportunity for a senior Guide to operate with significant autonomy while leading Trails in a conservation-driven eco-tourism setting. The successful candidate will work independently, making informed decisions on guest safety, trail routes, and daily guiding operations while contributing to the broader Safari and Conservation objectives of the lodge.
Job Requirements
- Valid South African Lead Trails Guide qualification (FGASA / CATHSSETA compliant)
- Current First Aid Level 2 certification (minimum)
- Advanced Rifle Handling (ARH) certification
- Proven experience independently leading Safari walking trails in Big 5 areas
- Strong authority and confidence to make autonomous, safety-based decisions on Trails
- Excellent knowledge of ecology, wildlife behaviour, and Conservation ethics
- Ability to mentor junior guides while managing trails-related operations autonomously
- Exceptional guest communication and professional conduct as a senior Guide
- Physically fit, mentally resilient, and operationally disciplined
- Valid driver’s license
Package
- Market-related salary based on experience
- High level of operational autonomy and professional trust
- Bush-based role in a remote wilderness environment
- Accommodation may be provided depending on operational requirements
- Rostered shifts including weekends and public holidays
