Our client, a highly regarded boutique law firm based in Sandton, is seeking an experienced Employment / Labour Attorney at Director or Associate Director level to join its growing Employment Law practice.
This opportunity is ideally suited to a senior legal professional with extensive experience across all facets of employment and labour law, who is commercially minded, technically strong, and capable of advising clients on complex and high-impact employment matters.
The successful candidate will play a key role in advising clients, managing disputes, and supporting businesses through complex workplace and organisational challenges.
An existing client base will be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
Employment & Labour Law Advisory
- Advise clients on all aspects of employment and labour law, including:
- Strikes and lock-outs
- Collective bargaining
- Unlawful competition
- Restraint of trade matters
- Labour relations and workplace disputes
- Provide strategic and commercially sound legal advice on employment risks and compliance
Dispute Resolution & Litigation
- Represent and advise clients in a wide range of labour disputes, including:
- Unfair dismissals
- Unfair labour practices
- Organisational rights disputes
- Collective agreements and bargaining matters
- Manage disputes through relevant forums and legal processes
Corporate Employment Advisory
- Advise clients on employment-related matters arising from:
- Large-scale restructurings
- Mergers & acquisitions (M&A)
- Retrenchments and redundancies
- Business transfers
- Collective disputes
- Provide practical legal guidance during periods of organisational change
Internal Disciplinary & Workplace Processes
- Advise and guide clients regarding:
- Internal disciplinary enquiries
- Appeals processes
- Workplace investigations
- Employee misconduct and performance matters
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- LLB Degree (Essential)
- Admitted Attorney (Essential)
Experience
- 6–10 years’ Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) in Employment / Labour Law
- Extensive experience across all aspects of employment and labour law
- Strong advisory and dispute resolution experience
- Proven ability to manage complex employment-related matters independently
- Experience within a reputable law firm environment preferred
- Own client base advantageous
