Brief Description
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree; and
Certificate in Adult Language Teaching (CELTA, TEFL, TESOL)
Experience:
2 years’ appropriate teaching experience
Skills:
ability to plan, prepare and deliver creative and productive lessons at a range of levels;
ability to encourage students to actively participate throughout course;
ability to teach specialised courses such as those designed for corporate groups or private individuals;
ability to assess, continuously monitor and guide student progress;
ability to select/adapt/develop appropriate resource materials in a range of media, including print and electronic;
demonstrable proficiency in the use of educational technology in the classroom;
demonstrable knowledge of MS Word and Excel; and
excellent written and verbal communication skills
Personal attributes:
well-developed organizational skills and the ability to maintain composure under pressure;
initiative and the ability to work independently without close supervision;
ability to set high standards of performance and successfully complete tasks;
ability to develop and maintain productive student/client and staff relationships;
is able to promote a respectful working environment
Other requirements:
must be a mother-tongue speaker of the language of tuition;
must be willing to work on Saturdays (this is dependent on the course);
must be willing to work on evenings (this is dependent on the course);
must be willing to travel to corporate clients (this is dependent on the course);
must have a driver’s licence; and
must have a valid work permit (if you are not a South African citizen)
