Our client in the Financial Services industry is looking for a Labour Lawyer to join their team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will be an admitted attorney with a
B.Com in Law and/or LLB degree, with 4 to 6 years of post-qualification experience. A strong knowledge of Sharia law is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert legal advice and guidance on all aspects of labour law within the financial services sector.
Advise the business on employment disputes, including disciplinary matters, dismissals, and other related issues.
Draft and review employment contracts, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with legal standards.
Represent the company in negotiations and hearings related to labour matters.
Ensure adherence to all relevant labour laws, including the Basic Conditions of Employment Act and the Labour Relations Act.
Collaborate with other departments to manage and mitigate employment-related risks.
Stay updated on changes in labour law and ensure the companys policies remain compliant.
Experience and Qualifications:
Admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
B.Com in Law and/or LLB degree.
4-6 years of post-qualification experience in labour law.
Strong knowledge and understanding of Sharia law.
Experience in labour law matters in the financial services industry is preferred.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and drafting skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
