QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 (Mathematics and Physical Science)
- National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry or B.Sc. in Chemistry
- ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Laboratory Management System Training
- ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Internal Auditing Training
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a production laboratory
- Proven experience in implementing and maintaining an ISO/IEC 17025 Quality Management System
- Experience working within an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited laboratory environment
- Experience operating and developing analytical methods using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF)
- Experience with Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES) and wet chemistry analysis
- Experience in sampling, sample preparation, and sample handling procedures
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and coordinate laboratory personnel and daily shift activities, including performance, training, competency, overtime, and attendance.
- Ensure accurate sampling, sample preparation, testing, and timely reporting of results.
- Conduct PTOs, monitor analytical accuracy, investigate deviations, and maintain QC standards.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory procedures, specifications, customer requirements, ISO/IEC 17025, and the Quality Management System.
- Assist with XRF method development, calibration, validation, and continuous quality improvement.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is inspected, calibrated, maintained, and repaired to minimise downtime.
- Complete and verify laboratory records, instructions, checklists, and daily shift handovers.
- Promote compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) requirements by conducting risk assessments and reporting unsafe conditions.
