About the Role
We have been mandated by a prominent agricultural and animal nutrition manufacturing enterprise in Bloemfontein to source a meticulous and highly organised Laboratory Administrator.
This dual-function role acts as the backbone of the facility’s quality control (QC) and laboratory operations. If you are a naturally analytical professional who excels in system administration, maintaining strict food safety standards, and driving workflow efficiency, this opportunity will allow you to take ownership of a critical testing environment while supervising a dedicated technical team.
Core Responsibilities:
- Quality & Compliance: Guarantee strict adherence to product and service quality standards, food safety protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Drive departmental compliance with crucial regulatory frameworks, including ISO, HACCP, and GMP.
- Testing & Analysis: Supervise and actively perform tests on animal feed samples, meticulously evaluating nutritional content, potential contaminants, and overall product conformance.
- Equipment & Accreditation: Manage the regular calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Conduct regular internal audits and seamlessly coordinate external inspections to uphold and achieve lab accreditation.
- Operations & Leadership: Take full charge of general laboratory operations, optimising workflow efficiency and managing staff scheduling. Actively train, mentor, and supervise laboratory technicians.
- Risk Management: Thoroughly investigate any non-conformances and determine robust corrective and preventative actions (CAPA). Monitor and assess Critical Control Points (CCPs) and Operational Prerequisite Programs (ORPs) to safeguard company standards.
- Data Administration: Ensure meticulous record-keeping and data capturing of all test results and laboratory metrics.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- A valid Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate) or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of proven, practical experience in office administration and system administration.
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience in supervising a team.
- Prior working experience within a laboratory environment will be considered highly advantageous, as will a working knowledge of ISO 22000 frameworks.
- A valid South African driver’s licence coupled with your own reliable transport is strictly required.
