We are seeking a detail-orientated and customer-focused Laboratory Technician to join our Spec-Savers Rondebult practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for cutting and fitting lenses accurately according to prescription requirements, maintaining laboratory equipment, handling adjustments and repairs, and ensuring exceptional customer service at all times. The role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and professionalism to support the delivery of first-class eye care in line with Spec-Savers’ values and standards.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 months’ working experience in an Optometric Laboratory environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Customer-service orientated with a professional and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to continuously update professional knowledge and skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Cut and fit lenses accurately according to prescription requirements and professional standards.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is properly maintained, functional, and kept clean and organised at all times.
  • Perform adjustments and repairs to spectacles to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Handle customer queries and resolve spectacle or laboratory-related issues professionally and efficiently.
  • Monitor and minimise losses resulting from remakes, damages, or breakages.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels of lenses and laboratory supplies.
  • Assist with stock takes and ensure accuracy during stock control processes.
  • Follow up with laboratories regarding delivery updates and customer orders.
  • Keep attendance registers updated daily.
  • Provide general assistance to store staff where required.
  • Maintain high levels of customer service and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Continuously update knowledge of laboratory procedures, products, and industry standards.
  • Perform additional duties as required in line with operational needs.
