About L'Oréal PPD
The Professional Products Division (PPD) is the historical heart of L’Oréal. We partner with hair salons and stylists worldwide to elevate the professional hair industry. Our portfolio consists of luxury and premium salon brands including Kérastase, L'Oréal Professionnel, and Redken.
In PPD, digital and social marketing serves a unique dual purpose: B2B (driving business, education, and loyalty with salon owners and hairstylists) and B2C (building brand desire, high-end consumer awareness, and driving clients to salons and e-retail partners).
Job Purpose
As the Junior Social & Digital Brand Manager, you will be responsible for accelerating the digital footprint, social media presence, and brand advocacy for PPD brands in South Africa. You will bridge the gap between creative storytelling and digital performance, executing social media campaigns, managing influencer and stylist advocacy programs, and ensuring our brands are beautifully and consistently represented across all touchpoints (websites, social platforms, and e-retail spaces).
Key Responsibilities
- Social Media Management & Content Creation
- Content Calendar Execution: Develop, schedule, and publish highly engaging monthly social media calendars across channels (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube) in alignment with global brand guidelines and local marketing priorities.
- Local Content Creation: Be hands-on with content production. Capture "on-the-go" visual content (short-form videos, reels, stories, behind-the-scenes at events/salons) tailored to the local aesthetic.
- Community Management: Actively engage with our digital community of consumers and professional stylists. Monitor comments, direct messages, and brand mentions to build active, loyal communities.
- Stylist Advocacy & Influencer Marketing
- KOL & Influencer Programs: Identify, onboard, and manage relationships with local lifestyle/beauty influencers and professional hair stylists (our core brand ambassadors).
- Advocacy Campaigns: Coordinate the shipping of product launches and press kits to influencers and salons. Track their output, monitor social coverage, and evaluate campaign sentiment.
- Stylist Spotlights: Celebrate the professional salon community by showcasing stylist talent, salon transformations, and education milestones on brand platforms.
- Digital Brand Management & E-Commerce
- Website Merchandising: Ensure brand websites are up-to-date with correct product catalogs, store/salon locators, and localized promotional banners.
- E-Commerce Support: Assist the commercial team in providing high-quality digital assets, banners, and copy to our e-retail partners (e.g., Retail Box, Superbalist, salon-specific e-shops) to optimize search ranking and online sales.
- B2B Digital Support: Help manage and drive engagement for our professional learning and business portals (e.g., L'Oréal Access, L'Oréal Partner Shop), encouraging stylists to sign up for digital training and online ordering.
- Performance Tracking & Reporting
- Social Analytics: Track and analyze weekly/monthly social media performance KPIs (engagement rates, follower growth, reach, website click-throughs) using analytical tools.
- Campaign Reviews: Produce clear, visual post-campaign reports to showcase the success and learnings of digital launches to the broader marketing and commercial teams.
- Competitor Audits: Stay ahead of beauty and digital trends in South Africa. Conduct monthly digital competitive analysis to identify new social features, influencer tactics, and retail trends.
Education & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Digital Marketing, Media/Communications, Brand Management, or a related field.
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in social media management, digital marketing, or content creation (agency or brand-side). Experience in beauty, lifestyle, luxury, or fashion industries is highly preferred.
Technical & Creative Skills
- Content Crafting: Practical skills in capturing and editing basic mobile photography and video content (familiarity with CapCut, Canva, or Adobe suite is a strong asset).
- Platform Expertise: Expert knowledge of social media platform mechanics, algorithms, and features (TikTok, Instagram Reels, social commerce).
- Copywriting: Strong creative writing skills with the ability to write engaging, on-brand copy for both consumers (B2C) and hair professionals (B2B).
- Analytics Basics: Familiarity with social media analytics tools (such as Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, or social listening tools).
Soft Skills & Attributes
- Relationship Builder: Outgoing and enthusiastic, with the ability to build strong connections with hairstylists, salon owners, and digital creators.
- Highly Organized: Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple content calendars, campaign deadlines, and product shipments simultaneously.
- Proactive & Trend-Obsessed: Enthusiastic about hair care, salon professional trends, and digital innovation. Ready to pitch fresh ideas and "test & learn" on new digital features.
