MAIN PURPOSE
This role is responsible for ensuring that projects under control are safely executed according to the company’s standards and procedures, and applying industry effectiveproject managementprinciples to achieve a profitable quality outcome for the company, within time and resource constraints.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the guidance of a designated Project Manager, learn how to:
Take responsibility for the safety of all project team members.
Maintain a professional relationship between company, client and engineer/designer. Identify and resolve issues and conflicts between project stakeholders.
Adhere to the established company processes and procedures.
Understand scope to manage changes to manpower, equipment and funding during the project lifetime.
Understand time as it relates to the baseline schedule, and managing subsequent schedule changes in order to protect the financial position of the company.
Manage costs by preparing an execution budget for the project. Perform a gap analysis to compile a plus/minus list of under and over tendered values. Manage resources and costs accordingly.
Control and manage quality through the appointment of competent experienced site personnel and deployment of necessary systems and procedures.
Identify and manage risk by applying the conditions of contract, and develop the skill of contractual correspondence.
Contractually, financially and administratively manage a construction contract.
Develop a reporting framework for both the client and your own.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Senior site supervisor for a period of at least 3 years, or
Quantity surveyor in the EC&I industry, or Technical degree or diploma, preferably in Electrical Engineering.
Computer literacy in typical project tools – Excellent knowledge of MS Office/Excel.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Excellent written and verbalcommunicationin the English language.
Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, including formal communications and presentations.
A keen sense of urgency and a willingness to learn.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Both in office and on site. Position requires out of town travel.
Is subject to work beyond normal working hours, evenings, weekends and holidays should the need arise.
Participate in continuing educational programs designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession.
