Reporting to the Estate Manager, the Junior Production Manager will play a key role in overseeing daily farm operations while leading a team of supervisors. The role includes planning, organising, and coordinating all production activities – from planting to harvesting – ensuring high-quality yields in line with industry standards.

Key Performance Outputs

Production Management

  • Oversee planting, pruning, harvesting, fertigation, and pest/disease management
  • Monitor crop progress and ensure optimal production practices
  • Conduct soil and leaf analysis to guide fertilisation and crop health
  • Ensure maintenance and upkeep of all production areas

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Supervise senior team leaders, spray operators, and tractor drivers
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate teams to achieve performance targets
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and labour practices
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and employee development

Planning & Administration

  • Coordinate daily work plans and allocate resources effectively
  • Maintain accurate records and operational documentation
  • Monitor procedures to ensure adherence to company and industry standards

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure compliance with SIZA, Global G.A.P, and company standards
  • Drive quality assurance aligned with OZblu standards
  • Enforce company policies and farming best practices

Requirements

What You'll bring
Education:

  • Grade 12 (essential)
  • Diploma/Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or related field (preferred)
  • Additional certifications in irrigation, scouting, or plant production (advantageous)

Experience:

  • 2–4 years’ experience in farm or production management
  • Strong exposure to crop production cycles (planting to harvesting)
  • Experience with berry or fruit production is highly advantageous

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and people management ability
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • Solid understanding of horticulture and crop production practices
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Knowledge of basic HR practices and farm operations
  • Detail-oriented, results-driven, and able to perform under pressure
