Job Title: Junior Bookkeeper

Company: Bespoke Lighting Services Company

Location: Remote South Africa

Reports To: Finance Manager

Budget: Up to R25,000 per month depending on experience

Hours: 8am-4pm Pacific Time Zone

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Bookkeeper to join our growing bespoke lighting services business. This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in finance and accounting who is eager to gain hands-on experience in a creative, project-driven environment. The successful candidate will support day-to-day financial operations, with a focus on budgeting, invoicing, quoting, and general financial administration.

Key Tasks and Duties:

Invoicing & Accounts Receivable

  • Prepare and issue accurate client invoices based on project milestones and completed work
  • Track incoming payments and follow up on outstanding accounts
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies

Quoting & Costing Support

  • Assist in preparing detailed client quotations in collaboration with project and sales teams
  • Ensure all cost elements (materials, labour, logistics) are accurately captured
  • Maintain and update pricing templates and cost databases

Budgeting & Financial Tracking

  • Support the preparation and monitoring of project budgets
  • Track actual costs against estimates and highlight variances
  • Assist with monthly financial reporting and budget reviews

Accounts Payable

  • Capture supplier invoices and ensure timely payments
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve queries
  • Maintain accurate records of all purchases and expenses

General Bookkeeping

  • Maintain accurate financial records in accounting software
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and cash flow tracking
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial procedures

Requirements:

  • Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Finance (or currently studying)
  • 1–2 years of bookkeeping or finance-related experience (preferred but not essential)
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks)
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organisational and time-management abilities
