LekkeSlaap is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Financial Controller to join our finance team. You will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of our fast-growing platform.
In this position, you will assist with payroll, manage reconciliations, and support finance operations to ensure the continued growth of LekkeSlaap. As a Junior Financial Controller, your analytical skills and attention to detail will contribute to the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting.
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting: Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and perform bank reconciliations.
Reconciliation: Perform reconciliations of payment gateways and supplier accounts to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
Journals & Close: Prepare journal entries and support month-end and year-end closing activities.
Accounts Payable & Receivable: Reconcile customer and partner accounts to maintain financial accuracy and stakeholder trust.
Collaboration: Work closely with operations teams to resolve finance-related queries efficiently.
Payroll: Assist with monthly payroll processing and reconciliation.
Audit Support: Prepare working papers and documentation to support the annual audit process.
Tax: Complete all relevant tax returns on SARS eFiling for review, including income tax, dividend tax, provisional tax, VAT201s, and EMP201s.
Improvements: Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement, contributing to a scalable and efficient digital finance environment.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
Completed SAIPA / CIMA articles or 3 years of experience in a financial role, preferably in accounting or financial reporting
Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting practices, payroll, and employee tax
Proficient in MS Excel and financial software (experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or similar preferred)
Experience in QuickBooks Online and PaySpace would be advantageous
Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
Able to perform under pressure and meet deadlines
Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within a dynamic, fast-paced industry
Solution-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Knowledge of South African financial regulations and compliance is advantageous
