Role Description The Junior Electrical Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based in the City of Johannesburg. The person in this role will assist with electrical design tasks for infrastructure, industrial, and energy projects under the guidance of senior engineers. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing calculations and drawings, supporting power distribution and power system layouts, and contributing to technical documentation and reports. The Junior Electrical Engineer will help with feasibility studies, basic and detailed engineering, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with standards, safety requirements, and client specifications. The role also involves supporting site activities, participating in design reviews, and assisting in resolving technical issues during construction and maintenance phases.
Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge of Electrical Engineering, with the ability to apply core principles to real-world projects.
- Skills in Electrical Design for industrial, commercial, and infrastructure applications, including preparation of diagrams and specifications.
- Understanding of Power Systems and Power Distribution, including load calculations, protection coordination, and system reliability considerations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, standards, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in relevant engineering software (e.g., CAD tools, electrical design packages) and MS Office.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, and ability to collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Willingness to learn, receive mentoring, and visit project sites as required.
