The Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography is seeking a proactive and solutions-driven Systems Administrator to join our IT team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the Academy's IT infrastructure, systems, network environment and security while providing technical support across the institution.
Key Responsibilities
Network and Infrastructure
- Administer and maintain the Academy's network infrastructure
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify improvements.
- Ensure network availability and reliability across campus.
- Troubleshoot connectivity and infrastructure issues and escalate where required.
Microsoft 365 Administration
- Administer the Microsoft 365 environment, including:
- Microsoft Entra ID
- Exchange Online
- Microsoft Teams
- Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
- Azure AD Connect and synchronisation services
- Manage user accounts, permissions and security.
Systems Administration
Maintain and support institutional systems including:
- SharePoint
- Moodle / LMS / SIS platforms
- Mosyle MDM
- Apple School Manager
- NAS storage environment
- Print Server and PaperCut MF
- Fingerprint attendance systems
- Face ID systems
- Voice over IP telephony
- Finance support systems (Pastel)
- Camera network infrastructure
- Hyper-V environment
- Virtual and Physical Servers
- Windows Server 2019 environment
User and Security Administration
- Create and maintain user accounts and permissions.
- Configure and maintain local and domain accounts.
- Manage access permissions across shared resources.
- Ensure backup processes are functioning correctly.
Vendor and Service Management
- Manage ISP relationships and service availability.
- Coordinate software licensing and subscription renewals.
- Liaise with external support providers and vendors.
- Escalate technical issues where appropriate.
General IT Support
- Provide technical support to academic and professional staff.
- Assist departments with technology projects and system improvements.
- Support classroom and operational technology.
- Maintain accurate documentation of systems and procedures.
- Assist with hardware deployment and asset management.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience in systems or network administration.
- Strong experience with Microsoft 365 administration.
- Experience administering Windows and Mac environments.
- Working knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy.
- Experience managing enterprise networks (UniFi experience advantageous).
- Experience with SharePoint administration.
Knowledge and Technical Skills
