Requirements:
Matric is essential
Related tertiary qualification is essential
A+, N+
3+ years of experience as an IT technician or similar position with ambition to progress in the IT
Windows and Mac OSX knowledge
Strong desktop, operating system and software knowledge is essential
Microsoft Exchange 2016/2019 experience with Microsoft Certification
Experience with CCTV will be advantageous (IP CCTV)
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work after hours, over weekends, and on public holidays with short or no notice
Must have a valid driver’s license with own reliable transport
Must have reliable communication/Internet in place at home to attend to after-hours support from time to time
Must be able to communicate with customers and answer any technical queries
Self-motivated with the ability to use initiative and operate with minimal supervision
Responsibilities:
Ensure usability by configuring and installing the software and hardware components
Maintain the software and hardware for all WANs, LANs, emails, telecoms, and internet connectivity
Ensure that all electrical safety standards are always met
Restore or replace faulty or damaged hardware
Safeguard the privacy and security of networks on computer systems
Ensure security by upgrading and installing anti-virus software and upgrading systems to enable all computers to have compatible software
Test new hardware and software
Provide tech support and be the first in line to contact when reporting an error
Conduct daily backup operations
Maintain all technical documentation
Manage Service Level Agreements with IT related suppliers
Ensure company and group IT procedures and guidelines are aligned
The primary functions of the IT Support Technician are to install, maintain, and repair hardware, software, and networking components to ensure the smooth running of all information systems. An IT Support Technician must have the skills to manage, diagnose, repair, and maintain all IT-related systems required by the Company. The technician is responsible for a reliable IT environment from installation to end-of-life.
