Job Summary:
The person in this role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Parts Department, ensuring the availability of parts for our rebuild operations. This role involves managing all things inventory and providing exceptional support for all departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain an organized, clean and efficient Parts Room.
- Oversee parts information in our accounting software making sure information is up to date and identified correctly using accurate parts descriptions.
- Process incoming shipments by unboxing, checking packing lists for accuracy, and shelf appropriately.
- Handle receipts of inventory in our accounting software.
- Assist with maintaining accurate inventory levels and minimizing obsolete or excess stock and shrinkage (Parts Gatekeeper).
- Pull parts for the Rebuilders, Salespeople and Service Department.
- Ensure proper job costing for rebuild and service operations.
- Work closely with all departments to ensure timely availability of required parts for repairs.
- Monitor and control inventory costs and parts margin performance.
- Set pricing based on current costs and market in conjunction with management.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and manage full physical inventories.
- Responsible for shipping parts returns and tracking credits.
- Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of the parts and components used in our products and services.
Qualifications/Skills:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in business, logistics, or related field is a plus
- Strong mechanical knowledge with a background in HD truck or automotive service is preferred
- Basic knowledge of truck systems and components (e.g., engines, transmissions, suspensions, brakes, electrical)
- Familiarity with inventory management software and POS systems
- Strong data entry skills with attention to detail for accurate inventory control
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational & people skills
- Ability to comfortably lift up to 50 pounds
- Valid driver’s license
