Role Overview
A fast-growing food manufacturing and retail supply business is seeking an Inventory Controller to join their operational team. This role will suit someone who enjoys working hands-on with stock, numbers and operational processes. You will be responsible for keeping inventory records accurate across production and retail environments, identifying discrepancies and ensuring stock movements are properly captured.
You will work closely with other functional teams, including finance, production, retail, and warehousing, combining physical stock checks with data analysis to improve accuracy, reduce losses and keep inventory under control.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate inventory records across raw materials, packaging, consumables and finished products using ERP systems and Excel.
- Plan and complete regular stock counts, cycle counts and reconciliations across different stockholding locations.
- Analyse stock differences, investigate discrepancies over the complete cycle and put stronger controls in place.
- Track raw material usage throughout production and monitor yields, waste, and finished-goods output.
- Monitor stock rotation, expiry dates and shelf life with a view of minimising wastage, ageing and obsolete inventory.
- Check incoming and outgoing stock against supporting documentation and compile monthly reports on stock levels, variances and write-offs.
Qualifications & Experience
- Completed tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, Inventory Management, Finance, or Cost & Management Accounting with 2–6 years’ experience in dedicated stock control.
- Previous experience in FMCG, food manufacturing, retail or a high-volume/perishable stock environment is highly advantageous.
- Strong experience with stock counts, reconciliations and investigating inventory discrepancies.
- Good understanding of production yields, wastage, stock movements and inventory controls.
- Working knowledge of inventory principles such as FIFO and LIFO.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience using an ERP, inventory or warehouse management system.
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable own vehicle for required site visits.
Salary & Benefits
- CTC R20,000 – R26,000 per month
- Travel cost reimbursement
