Job Purpose
The purpose of the BI Developer within the company CIB Finance Data team, is to contribute to the success of the team through the analysis, design, specification, implementation and testing of high quality data solutions that meet the business needs and contributes to uninterrupted business as usual by performing operational tasks and servicing ad hoc requests, in addition support and maintain the data warehouse in line with the data model; metadata repository and to provide business intelligence analysis
Job Responsibilities
Deliver projects
Analyse user adhoc requests / requirements.
Design innovative, high-quality solutions for data sources, reports and dashboards that meet quality criteria according to BI best practices / disruptive methods
Document proposed functional and technical solutions in the required templates
Develop test plans and ensure a full testing cycle before code deployments
Conduct unit, integration and performance testing to ensure developed solution is of the required quality
Drive the user acceptance testing cycles to ensure that sign-off is obtained
Assist team members where required through-out the project life-cycle
Provide timely status updates to the users, ensuring appropriate escalation takes place where required
Use the Agile methodology to deliver stakeholder requirements

Build and maintain excellent client relationships
Ensure good working relationships by maintaining a helpful and professional attitude
Build trust by delivering on commitments as per SLA’s and conduct post-delivery satisfaction surveys
Deliver business as usual
Compile & maintain master operational schedule and execute tasks as per agreed SLA’s.
Notify appropriate audience in event of failure and take corrective action where appropriate
Service ad-hoc extract and report requests efficiently and effectively by analysing the requirement, designing and developing the solution and ensuring it is of the required quality
Action administrative ad-hoc requests as per agreed SLA’s
Perform maintenance on existing software modules when required with minimal come-backs
Trace the cause of failure within existing software and make recommendations on how to rectify so that the cause is eliminated
Follow naming standards, templates and quality criteria as per governance framework
Document existing own processes and tasks in prescribed templates and store in knowledge repository, following naming standards and quality criteria as per governance framework

Transformation of team and delivery of Innovative / sustainable solutions
Conduct formal and informal knowledge sharing sessions
Discuss & share lessons learned during optimization of processes
Identify additional areas where information sharing will be beneficial, e.g. try to tie in with development plan and leverage on existing skills within the team
Communicate with team to promote reuse of software components within the team
Identify areas of development and training requirements needed to deliver on optimization work
Grow knowledgebase in depth and breadth of the company CIB processes, systems and products
Identify ways of implementing sustainable solutions in the longer term that can replace ad-hoc requests or prevent recurring incidents
Design areas for code optimization in such a way that foreseeable requirements are already included, and maintenance is minimised.
Develop new assets through collaboration and working in agile squads and other digital initiatives
Essential Qualification
Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
Bachelor’s Degree Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematical/Statistics or equivalent

Minimum Experience Level
3 to 5 years of experience in Data Warehouse Methodology and Data Analysis.
Experienced at Data Extract / Transform / Load
Experience with database concepts and SQL, PL/SQL
Experienced at Data Models – Schemas / 3rd Normal Forms and Dimensional Modelling
Experience with programming e.g. scripting
Acceptance of existing development standards and contribution to refine existing standards
Ability to write code and develop solutions based on traditional and innovative methods
Ability to test own work in order to produce work of high quality
Proven track record of successful delivery of solutions of medium to high complexity
Technical / Professional Knowledge
Microsoft Office

ETL skills (eg. Abinitio, SSIS)
Process scheduling and server scripting (eg. Control-M, Linux/AIX scripts)
