About the Role

The HR Shared Services Lead will be responsible for developing and leading a newly established WaterAid UK HR Shared Services Hub which will provide strategic people partnering and governance support to senior leaders; specialism and expertise to countries in specific and pre-defined activities and additional support to countries with limited capacity; enabling delivery of the local people service. The role will also lead processes aimed at maximizing efficiency and economies of scale with activities that can be shared across a wide range of countries. They will lead and inspire the newly created People Hub team to create new ways of working and develop the associated service delivery skills and mindset as well as define the service offering required to deliver expertise and advice in a way which supports, empowers and enables Country Programmes across WaterAid UK and Australia.

You’ll:

Act as a partner to the Senior Regional Leaders and WA Australia People lead, and through effective partnerships, lead conceptualization, project scope, delivery and measurement of key people interventions.
Ensure best use of talent in the Hub, by deploying Hub Partners into projects, in line with their areas of expertise and strengths.
Implement best practices in ongoing refinement, review and application of the Hub model and ways of working.
Lead and support Hub Partners with evaluation of key interventions, adaptation and redefinition of priorities, considering contextual factors and a fluid external environment.
Provide career development growth for the Hub Partners, in line with their areas of strength and actively support their deployment into key WAUK projects as they arise.
Partner with the Global People Team and Head of People International to influence the design and delivery of people activities which meet local needs. Contribute to defining the ways of working and processes needed to ensure the local informs the global.

Requirements

To be successful, you’ll need:

Proven track record in leading a people service centre or advice unit, ideally a minimum of 5 years).
Deep expertise and knowledge of leading a strategic people planning process, identifying organizational needs and translating these into solutions for a client base.
10+ years’ experience of Human Resource functional management and leadership covering business partnering and elements of expertise (reward, talent management, learning etc).
Proven expertise in organisational design and development approaches.
Proven track record of successfully managing change in different contexts whilst maintaining high staff engagement.
A Business or Human Resources degree or equivalent (a master’s degree would be desirable)

Highly organized, able to provide high levels of support to the team and stakeholders whilst balancing short term delivery and longer-term planning
Analytical, very comfortable working with data. Evidence based in decision making and ability to draw insight to inform action.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across geographical and cultural boundaries.
Excellent coaching, mentoring and facilitation skills and an approach that builds capacity rather than dependency.
Clear, persuasive and influential. Able to provide effective support and challenge to senior stakeholders
Ability to speak more than one language (e.g. French, Portuguese or a local languages and dialects spoken in in Africa, Asia or Australasia.)
