The Opportunity

Standard Bank CIB is seeking a strategic leader to own the STCF portfolio (pre-export finance, Borrowing Base, and Inventory-backed lending). The role will act as the "engine room" for our Africa-anchored franchise, ensuring commercial scalability, disciplined capital usage, and rigorous regulatory compliance.

Core Responsibilities

  • Product Architecture: Define strategic constructs, collateral frameworks, and asset coverage models aligned to risk appetite.
  • Commercial Strategy: Drive STCF commercialization across target industries, supporting Coverage/Sales teams to position solutions as key enablers of trade and working capital.
  • Portfolio Management: Lead the full lifecycle from structuring to execution; monitor RWA intensity, risk-adjusted returns, and lead proactive interventions (restructuring/covenant resets).
  • Governance & Risk: Establish 1LOD standards, including security packages, perfection requirements, and portfolio limits across countries and commodities.
  • Digital Transformation: Champion digitization for real-time collateral tracking, automated borrowing base reporting, and streamlined workflows to reduce operational friction.

Required Experience

  • Experience: 5–7 years in Structured Trade and Commodity Finance, with a proven track record in leadership and product solution implementation.
  • Technical Edge: Expert understanding of Transaction Banking, risk/reward modelling, and the South African regulatory landscape.
  • Education: A First Degree in Business Commerce, Finance, or a related field.
  • Skills: A "structured thinker" capable of moving from high-level strategy to granular operational planning.
