The Reports to the Managing Director

Purpose
The HOD-HR is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the human resources function within the organization.

This position focuses on the day-to-day execution and administration of HR activities. HOD-HR is responsible for the practical implementation and management of core HR processes.

The scope of HOD-HR responsibilities encompasses a wide range of activities, including recruitment and selection, employee training and development, compensation and benefits administration, employee relations and engagement, and the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.

These operational aspects of HR are vital for ensuring the effective management of an organization’s human capital and maintaining a productive, motivated, and compliant workforce.

Education & Experience Required :

Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, Organizational Psychology or related field.
Seasoned HR Generalist, with at least 8 -10 years overall HR experience and at least 3 years leadership experience.
Proven experience within HR Operations implementation
Strong understanding and application of HR principles, practices, and employment laws.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multinational environment with close alignment to the Corporate HR partner and strategy.
Ability to apply the organizational strategy for BBBEE aligned to the existing BBBE legislation.

Advantageous

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
HR certification (e.g. PHR) preferred.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment and Selection:
Oversee the full recruitment lifecycle, from job posting to onboarding.
Collaborate with department heads to forecast hiring needs.
The alignment of the companies recruiting needs with recruitment agencies.
Maintain relationships with strategically aligned recruitment agencies.
Oversee the employee onboarding program.

Compliance and Policy Management

Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation (e.g., BCEA, LRA, EEA, POPIA, BBBEE).
Develop, review, and enforce HR global strategies, policies and procedures.
Serve as the custodian of all local HR policies, procedures, and templates
Ensure that employees and managers are aware of their responsibilities and follow compliant practices.

Learning and development:

Identify training needs and coordinate learning and development initiatives.
Develop and maintain the training policy.
Monitor training effectiveness and ROI.

Retention and engagement:

Develops and maintains initiatives to keep employees engaged and satisfied, contributing to lower staff turnover.
The above includes recognition programs, managing engagement surveys, and helping implement strategies to improve workplace morale.

Performance management:

Oversees the tools and systems used for employee performance reviews, goal setting, and feedback processes.
Ensures that performance management is consistent, transparent, and aligned with company objectives.
Support line managers in setting KPIs and conducting reviews.
Oversees the Succession Planning process for the company.

HR Systems and support:

Oversees the technology infrastructure that supports HR processes, such as SuccessFactors, People Solutions ATS, and payroll systems.
HR operations not only ensure these tools function correctly and drive outcomes, but also provide user support and training to all end-users (including people managers and individual contributor employees) to drive People Solution adoption.
Maintain accurate HR records and generate reports on key HR metrics.
Use data to inform strategic decisions.

Workplace employee well-being:

Serve as the first point of contact for employee concerns and grievances.
Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
Develop and maintain company policies and procedures, establish procedures for reporting workplace incidents, and take any other necessary steps to support employee well-being.

Hours Of Work:

At times it will be expected to work extended hours to support customers

Travel:

May be required to travel locally to the main branches, Durban and Cape Town or one international trip to attend a Global HR Training or Conference per year.
