Job Description The Handyman’s Assistant supports the Handyman or Maintenance Technician in completing general repairs, maintenance tasks, and small projects across client sites. This role ensures all work is carried out safely, professionally, and in line with quality standards. Ideal for someone practical, reliable, and eager to learn a wide range of technical and maintenance skills. Minimum Requirements
- Assist with general repair and maintenance tasks (painting, basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical support, etc.).
- Prepare tools, materials, and equipment required for daily tasks or scheduled jobs.
- Complete basic tasks independently, such as tightening fixtures, replacing light bulbs, and patching small holes.
- Support with installation work (shelving, door hardware, fittings, etc.).
- Conduct routine site checks to identify and report issues needing attention.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including tools and storage areas.
- Load, unload, and transport materials and tools as needed.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines and use PPE at all times.
- Provide general assistance on projects, including measuring, cutting, and holding materials.
- Communicate progress, delays, or issues to the Handyman/Supervisor in a timely manner.
Duties & Responsibilities
- A Matric qualification.
- A minimum of 1 years of experience in general labour, maintenance, or a technical trade environment (or strong practical aptitude).
- Basic tool handling knowledge.
- Exposure to any trade (plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical).
- Valid driver’s licence and own transport (advantegous).
