Group Procurement Manager Jobs in Eastern Cape, South Africa at People Shop
Title: Group Procurement Manager
Company: People Shop
Location: Eastern Cape, South Africa
GROUP PROCUREMENT MANAGER
Coastal South Africa | Multi-Site FMCG Manufacturing
A well-established, multi-site FMCG manufacturer in the food sector is seeking an accomplished Group Procurement Manager to lead the next stage of its procurement evolution.
The organisation offers a relatively flat, accessible and less bureaucratic environment, where decision-making is typically quick and many employees have built long careers within the business.
The Role
This is a significant build-and-transform mandate.
The organisation is evolving from a largely decentralised, operationally driven purchasing environment towards a more integrated, centre-led procurement model, with the aim of building stronger tactical and strategic procurement capability.
The successful candidate will lead the professionalisation, standardisation and strategic elevation of the function—leveraging group scale, unlocking commercial value and introducing more advanced procurement practices, while retaining the operational responsiveness essential in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.
The procurement portfolio has particular emphasis on commodity sourcing and packaging procurement, followed by raw materials, ingredients and indirect spend.
Key Priorities
* Develop and implement an integrated group procurement strategy.
* Transition the function from predominantly operational purchasing towards tactical and strategic procurement.
* Evolve the operating model from highly decentralised towards a more centre-led approach.
* Standardise procurement policies, processes, controls and ways of working.
* Leverage group scale to unlock savings, efficiencies and synergies.
* Strengthen strategic sourcing, category thinking, negotiation and contracting disciplines.
* Introduce more structured supplier performance management, supplier development and strategic partnerships.
* Improve spend visibility, commercial control and supply risk management.
* Build procurement capability and elevate team performance across multiple operations.
* Strengthen procurement’s influence and alignment with Operations, Planning, Finance, Quality and other key stakeholders.
The Leader We Are Looking For
We are looking for more than a strong procurement practitioner. This role requires a builder, transformer and influential leader who can create structure, deliver commercial results and bring people with them through significant change.
The ideal candidate will bring:
* A relevant tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business or a related field.
* 10+ years’ procurement experience, including leadership in a complex, multi-site or group environment.
* Strong FMCG, food manufacturing or related high-volume manufacturing experience.
* Significant exposure to commodity sourcing and packaging procurement.
* Proven strategic sourcing, negotiation, contracting and supplier management capability.
* A track record of delivering measurable savings, efficiencies and commercial value.
* Experience in procurement transformation or building procurement maturity.
* Strong commercial, analytical and financial acumen.
* Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement and influencing capability.
* The ability to operate comfortably at operational, tactical and strategic levels.
Experience in dairy or related food-based commodity environments would be highly advantageous.
Why Join?
This is an opportunity to shape, build and leave a legacy.
The successful candidate will join an established business with a relatively flat structure, direct access to decision-makers and a culture characterised by long tenure and strong relationships.
It will suit a pragmatic, commercially grounded leader who enjoys being close to the business, can respect what has already been built, and wants the scope to make a visible and lasting impact.
