Job Description:
The Government Sales Executive is responsible for securing government contracts, maintaining key client relationships, and driving revenue growth within the public sector. The role requires expertise in government procurement, a strategic sales approach, and strong account management skills.
Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
Identify and develop new business opportunities within government departments, agencies, and institutions.
Conduct detailed market segmentation and key account analysis to create targeted sales strategies.
Develop a sales pipeline, monitor tender opportunities, and manage the bidding process.
Ensure compliance with government procurement policies, regulations, and tender requirements.
Execute sales calls, presentations, and networking initiatives to promote the company’s offerings.
Build strong relationships with key decision-makers and procurement officers in the public sector.
Analyse government spending trends and align sales strategies accordingly.
Account Management & Client Relations
Serve as the primary liaison for government clients, ensuring a high level of customer service.
Manage contracts and service level agreements, ensuring all commitments are met.
Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and payment structures within government budget frameworks.
Monitor client satisfaction and address any service issues promptly.
Maintain a database of key government contacts and procurement timelines.
Strategic Planning & Reporting
Conduct competitor analysis to understand market positioning and pricing strategies.
Work with marketing teams to develop targeted campaigns for government clients.
Provide sales forecasts, market intelligence, and performance reports to management.
Attend industry events, government expos, and public-sector networking meetings.
Revenue & Compliance Management
Implement revenue management strategies to maximize financial returns.
Track revenue performance against targets and adjust sales strategies accordingly.
Ensure all transactions align with public-sector compliance requirements.
Monitor and report on key sales metrics, including revenue, contract value, and client retention rates.
Requirements
Proven experience in government sales, key account management, or public sector business development.
Strong understanding of government procurement processes, tendering, and compliance regulations.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to analyse sales data, market trends, and competitor activities.
Experience working with CRM software and sales tracking tools.
A relevant degree in Business, Marketing, Public Administration, or a related fieldis preferred.
Must have a valid driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle.
Must be willing and able to travel regularly for client meetings, site visits, and industry events.
