In the Traffic Systems business unit, we have partnered with Metros and local authorities across South Africa to unlock practical solutions that achieve tangible results. We offer complete turnkey solutions for intersection installations, as well as the supply and service of street furniture. Our Area Traffic Control systems and Remote Management Systems effectively alleviate traffic blockages and keep traffic moving and make maintenance a breeze.
An opportunity exists for a dynamic, experienced and driven executive to head up our Traffic Systems business unit. As the General Manager for Traffic Systems, the main purpose of your role is to pivot the business into a new service orientated business, as well as grow our local & export market. The business has a well-developed IP stack and new products coming to market which will support above strategy.

Main Outputs:
·     Lead the Traffic Systems organisation by creating a company culture that is in line with Syntell’s core set of values focusing on accountability and quality.
·     Co creation and achievement of strategic plan with all stakeholders.
·     Achievement of budgeted financial performance and monitoring of key operational and financial indicators.
·     Provide direction and structure for the operating units and ensuring delivery through operations. This includes but is not limited to Product management, Software development management, Customer management, Sales and Supplier management, and People Management.
·     Identifies potential business growth areas and drives the business development strategy.
·     Manages continuous improvement initiatives and drives innovation.
·     Establish and maintain key customer relationships.
·     Identify and close new business opportunities.
·     Provide direction, support and leadership to direct team, including retention and development initiatives.
·     Understanding of the external environment including Customer needs, competitor strengths and weaknesses as well as assessment of market intelligence gathering.
Qualifications and Experience
·     A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering/Technology and/or Business fields (Postgrad would be advantageous)
·     At least 5 years relevant experience with a proven track record of success in managing and growing such a business
·     5+ years’ experience in Business Development and Marketing
·     5+ years’ experience in related industry sector
