SUMMARY:

General Factory Worker (Corrugated Board Industry)

Location: Parrow Cape Town North

POSITION INFO:

The General Factory Worker supports daily production operations within a corrugated board manufacturing environment. The role involves assisting with the handling, packing, strapping, and movement of corrugated products while ensuring quality standards and operational efficiency are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist on corrugator and converting machines
  • Pack finished corrugated board products according to specifications
  • Strap and secure bundles for storage and dispatch
  • Count, sort, and inspect products to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Perform quality checks using a tape measure or digital caliper
  • Remove waste material and maintain clean, organised workstations
  • Assist with loading and unloading of raw materials and finished goods
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and machine operating procedures
  • Report defects, damages, and safety concerns to supervisors
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as required by the company

Minimum Requirements

  • Physically fit and able to perform manual labour in a production environment
  • Willingness to work around machinery and follow strict safety procedures
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team
  • Basic numeracy skills for counting and stock checking

Advantageous Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience in manufacturing, packaging, or the corrugated industry
  • Basic machine operation experience
  • Valid forklift licence
  • Valid driver’s licence

Working Conditions

  • Factory environment with exposure to noise, dust, and moving machinery
  • Required to stand for extended periods and handle materials
  • May be required to work shifts, overtime, and weekends based on production needs
  • Working hours:
    • Monday to Thursday: 07:15 – 16:00
    • Friday: 07:15 – 13:45
  • Annual leave: 15 days in December
