POSITION INFO:
Minimum Qualifications: Grade 12 Minimum Experience: Experience in performing general work at water treatment plants/ dams to maintain property, plant and equipment Key Outputs: Reporting to the Process Controller, the employee will: Carry out general work g. sweeping floors, windows and cleaning of machinery at the water & waste treatment works and pump stations See to the upkeep of grounds and surroundings, cut grass and do de-bushing of trees in and around the ponds/dams/yards etc. Transport chemicals for dosage from the chemical's storage area to the dosing point and clean storage area Cleaning of galleries sumps, reservoirs, overflow weirs and grid screens and grid channels Carry out additional work, e.g. Painting, scrubbing etc. Provide support with reservoir maintenance requirements Clean sedimentation tanks, sterilising filters, and desludging sedimentation tanks Removal of algal build-up on water flow channels. Dig trenches and repair pipelines when necessary. Refuse removal and proper disposal there of Carry out reasonable and lawful instructions as given by the line manager/supervisor within the ambit of the position taking into consideration competencies and operational requirements Key Competencies: Basic knowledge of OHS Act, NOSA and safety aspects Basic technical understanding of water and wastewater works operation Perform standby duties as and when, if required A confirmation letter for proof of residence stamped by the Ward councillor/Headman/Chief is required Employment Equity Target: African Male
