About
Xtrait Perfumery is a niche and artisanal fragrance house built around discovery. We carry independent perfumers and small-batch houses that most people have never smelled before, and we help every guest find something that feels like their own. Our floor is part boutique, part classroom — we host brand classes, “meet the perfumer” sessions, and guided discovery appointments.
The Role
We’re looking for a full-time Fragrance Specialist who genuinely loves perfume and loves talking about it. This is a hands-on role: you’ll guide customers through the collection, keep our inventory accurate, run the counter, and help bring our in-store events to life. If you can tell an oud from an incense accord and get excited when a new artisanal house lands on the shelf, we want to meet you.
What you will do
- Customer experience: Provide warm, knowledgeable service and personalized curation guidance across our current product offerings.
- Inventory management: Receive incoming orders and complete inventory through Shopify; sort and organize physical product in storage.
- Stock oversight: Monitor inventory status and flag low-stock or fast-moving products to the owner before they sell out.
- Point of sale: Operate the counter efficiently, including daily cash management and drawer counting.
- Online order fulfillment: Prepare and package online orders and drop them off at delivery points daily.
- Phone and email: Take customer phone calls, respond to email inquiries, and flag potential new brand partnerships or anything time-sensitive to the owner.
- Event support: Assist with and participate in in-store events, including brand classes and “meet the perfumer” sessions — setup, hosting support, guest engagement, and breakdown.
- Floor presentation: Keep displays, testers, samples, and the sales floor clean, stocked, and photo-ready. Fragrance Specialist — Full Time About Xtrait Perfumery The Role What You’ll Do
- Product knowledge upkeep: Stay current on new launches, restocks, and the stories behind the houses we carry so you can speak to them with confidence. Required Deep fragrance knowledge — strong familiarity with the brands Xtrait stocks as well as the broader niche and artisanal landscape.
- Ability to describe scent clearly: fragrance families, notes and accords, performance (longevity and projection), and concentration differences (EDT, EDP, extrait).
- Retail, hospitality, or customer-facing experience with a genuine service instinct.
- Comfort with Shopify or a similar POS/inventory system, and general tech confidence. Accuracy and accountability with cash handling and inventory counts.
- Strong written and verbal communication for phone calls and email. Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently without close supervision.
- Availability for a full-time schedule within boutique hours (Tuesday–Sunday, 11 a.m.–8 p.m.), including weekends and occasional evening events.
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift and move boxes of product (up to approximately 40 lbs).
- Comfortable appearing in videos for content in the social media channels.
Nice to have
- Prior experience in fragrance, beauty, or luxury retail.
- Experience assisting with in-store events, classes, or activations.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for daily delivery drop-offs.

- Inventory in Shopify matches what’s physically on the shelf.
- The owner hears about low stock, partnership opportunities, and urgent issues early, not late.
- Online orders go out the same day, every day.
- Events feel effortless to attendees.
Compensation
- $20.00 per hour
