Full Job Description
The Position: Forklift Driver Metals Factory
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Forklift Driver to join our team at our metals factory. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating a forklift to move materials, products, and equipment within the factory, ensuring efficient and accurate logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate a forklift safely and efficiently to transport materials, products, and equipment within the factory
Load and unload materials from trucks, containers, and storage areas
Move materials to and from production lines, warehouses, and storage areas as directed
Perform routine checks on the forklift to ensure it is in good working condition
Report any maintenance issues or defects to the relevant personnel
Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE)
Maintain a clean and organized workspace
Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient operations
Record and track inventory movements and other relevant data using Microsoft Excel or other designated software
Requirements:
Valid forklift operator license
1-2 years of experience operating a forklift in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Basic understanding of safety procedures and protocols
Physically fit and able to work in a factory environment
Good communication and teamwork skills
Basic computer literacy, with ability to use Microsoft Excel to record and track data
Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to perform simple maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment (e.g., checking oil levels, tightening loose parts)
Remuneration:
The salary for this position is regulated by the Metal and Engineering Industries Bargaining Council (MEIBC) agreement.
