Food Technologist – Jhb
Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified Food Technologist with experience in the Food or Beverage Industry to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on quality assurance and food safety.
Requirements:
A recognized tertiary qualification in Food Technology / Food Science
Minimum 3 – 4 years’ experience in the Food or Beverage Industry, with specific focus on quality assurance
Exposure to Dairy manufacturing will be advantageous
A strong technical ability
Good knowledge of Food Safety Management principles and Good Manufacturing Practices
Knowledge of Dairy-specific legislation and standards (R1555, Agricultural Product Standards Act)
A sound knowledge of Food processing
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Key Performance Areas (KPAs):
Act as a member of the food safety team and food safety culture team
Inform suppliers of non-conforming products and follow-up on corrective actions
Investigate and resolve quality issues related to components and final products
Investigate non-conforming shelf-life results and implement corrective and preventative actions
Liaise with customers regarding queries, complaints, and quality issues
Verify Process and Quality Control (QC) activities
Perform daily Critical Control Point (CCP) verifications
Maintain a presence in the factory to monitor hygiene and housekeeping, and conduct internal audits
Report any food safety or quality issues observed in the factory
Oversee processes and procedures within the factory
