Job Summary:
Responsible for the safe and efficient setup, operation, and maintenance of flexographic printing machines used in the production of plastic film. The operator ensures that printing processes meet productivity, quality, and food safety standards, while maintaining accurate production records and promoting continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities: Machine Operation
Set up flexographic printer at the start of each shift according to job specifications.
Operate flexographic printing machine safely and efficiently in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Oversee all production operations related to printing on plastic film.
Perform routine testing and quality checks on printed film during production.
Adjust machine settings and perform minor maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
Maintain and clean the printing machine as per maintenance schedule and procedures.
Production Monitoring
Monitor, measure, and report on production output and performance.
Check printed plastic film to ensure compliance with job specifications and quality standards.
Identify and address issues impacting efficiency or print quality.
Provide suggestions for process improvements to increase productivity and reduce waste.
Product Safety and Quality
Continuously inspect product quality to ensure it meets internal and customer specifications.
Ensure all printing activities comply with food safety and product quality standards.
Accurately complete all records to ensure product traceability.
Follow and implement all procedures related to the product safety and quality system.
Assist in developing and improving quality and safety procedures specific to printing operations.
Housekeeping & Compliance
Maintain high standards of housekeeping to ensure a clean and safe work environment.
Adhere to company safety protocols, policies, and procedures at all times.
Requirements:
Matric (Grade 12).
Minimum 3 years of experience operating flexographic printers, preferably on plastic film.
Knowledge of flexographic printing processes, inks, substrates, and print troubleshooting.
Able to work shifts, including nights and weekends as required.
Strong attention to detail and quality awareness.
Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic machine maintenance.
Ability to read and interpret job cards, technical drawings, and specifications.
