Role Description The Firewall Engineer is a full-time, remote position in KZN. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining firewall solutions to protect customer and internal networks. Day-to-day tasks include configuring firewall policies, monitoring security events, performing log analysis, and responding to incidents. The Firewall Engineer will collaborate with network and security teams to assess risks, optimize security architectures, and support change management processes. The role also involves documenting configurations, creating standard operating procedures, and providing guidance to colleagues and clients on secure network practices.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Firewall Engineering and Network Security for designing and supporting secure network infrastructures.
- Candidates should possess Cybersecurity and Information Security skills to assess threats, enforce security standards, and align with best practices and compliance requirements.
- Candidates should possess Troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve firewall and connectivity issues in complex environments.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise firewall platforms (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco, Check Point) and related security tools.
- Solid understanding of routing, switching, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS, etc.).
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP Security, PCNSE, NSE, CISSP, or equivalent are advantageous.
- Ability to work, collaborate effectively in diverse teams, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
